The 3 Peaks Challenge

The 3 Peaks Challenge

In 2015 Ardent Business Group Managing Director Craig Ashby and a team of challengers took to the mountains of Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis as part of the renowned Three Peaks Challenge.

The 41 fundraisers and 9 members of the support team set off at 6am on the Friday all prepared and ready to take on Snowdon, the first mountain and descended Ben Nevis on Saturday evening. The second of the three, Scarfell Pike was completed overnight with only head torches and light sticks to show the way. In total it’s estimated that the team walked 26 miles, much of that ground being covered on an incline, with a total of 9 800 feet! Along the way the team bonded over their shared determination to complete the three largest mountains in the UK, with some banter and pasties thrown in for good measure!

While trekking the team saw some amazing sights, including a mountain rescue on Snowdon, a full moon in a clear nights sky, trails of headlights snaking up the hills in the middle of the night, reaching the pinnacle on Ben Nevis to find that they would be walking in snow, trekking through clouds and seeing the most beautiful colours of the sun setting….almost like the famous Northern Lights!

Although the challenge itself wasn't easy, it was certainly made tougher due to the horrendous weather experienced during the night trek up Scarfell Pike, something our MD found more challenging than he expected. Thankfully he completed the challenge safely and would like to thank the many friends, family, customers and suppliers who helped in raising over £1,700 for the WellChild charity.
